Trunk Water Distribution Systems
Trunk watermains are those that transfer large amounts of water to all areas of a Municipality. These can be very large watermains in excess of 600 mm in diameter. SRM Associates has designed numerous trunk watermains for various cities and Regional governments throughout the GTA and elsewhere. This has included watermains up to 1200 mm in diameter. Due to their size, the design of trunk watermains must carefully consider existing and future underground infrastructure to ensure there are no physical conflicts that could result in the need to relocate other utilities at a future date. The design of the necessary air release, drain and isolation valve chambers must also consider the operational and maintenance requirements of the watermain. SRM Associates has also undertaken the assessment of existing systems and design of new systems using computer hydraulic modeling which determines the correct size for watermains.
