Contract Preparation and Administration
As part of the design assignments, SRM Associates has the responsibility to prepare the Tender documents for the project. This includes preparing the contractual requirements for the Tendering process, the Contract to be signed between the Owner and the Contractor, and the technical specifications for the work. SRM Associates has prepared these documents for the majority of our designs and consequently experienced in the preparation of these documents for many municipalities, Regional governments and private clients.
Generally, SRM Associates is also retained to administer the contract during the construction phase and inspect the work as it is constructed. Our experience of Contract Administration is extensive and includes all types of Municipal projects like Roads and Intersections, Storm Sewers and Sanitary Sewage Collection systems. Contract Administration involves protecting the client’s interests by monitoring the activities of the contractor to ensure the work is done promptly and to the specifications of the Contract, but also to confirm that the appropriate payments are consistently made to the contractor. Occasionally, SRM Associates may decide whether extra claims made by the contractor are legitimate and assure the project close-out is properly completed to the specifications of the Construction Lien Act.
