Stormwater Management Design

Sernas Associates have a considerable understanding of SWM design for Municipal and Private Sector Clients. We have the expertise to carry out the design of end-of-pipe SWM facilities, on-site SWM quantity and quality controls and Low Impact Development (LID) measures. Our objective is to design SWM measures that are functional, aesthetic, easy to maintain; cost effective and that will protect the receiving water body for many years. Specific capabilities include:

  • Determination of quantity, quality and erosion control requirements for residential, commercial and industrial developments.
  • Preliminary and detailed hydrologic modeling for sizing of end-of-pipe SWM facilities, including both event-based and continuous simulation modeling.
  • Determining on-site control storage requirements for quantity control and sizing oil/grit separators for quality control for mixed use, commercial and industrial developments.
  • Detailed engineering design of end-of-pipe SWM facilities for new development and for in-fill situations in existing urban areas.
  • Retrofit designs for existing SWM facilities due to age and/or operational consideration.
  • Preparation of Operations and Maintenance Manuals for end-of-pipe SWM facilities
  • Preliminary and detailed design of LID measures including bioswales and infiltration galleries.
