Monitoring
Sernas Associates have successfully completed numerous water resources design and monitoring projects throughout Southern Ontario, and as a result have a considerable understanding of the design, construction, maintenance and performance monitoring and the retrofitting of stormwater management facilities and other water resources features. Sernas has the expertise to carry out stormwater management performance monitoring to ensure that the facilities are operating as intended in their design and in an overall watershed context. Specific capabilities related to monitoring include:
- Installation of continuous monitoring equipment for long-term monitoring including; pressure transducers, flow meters, temperature gauges. This has been done with in-house equipment and with instruments acquired for specific projects.
- Quantity control structure performance verification through storm event monitoring and flow measurements.
- Facility topographic and bathymetric surveying to confirm design and sediment accumulation.
- Water quality testing using in-house equipment. Water sampling for laboratory testing.
- Design and installation of flow monitoring weirs.
- Establish long-term maintenance programs.
- Facility outfall erosion monitoring and assessments.
