Nexgen Utilities - History

Over the last few decades, the combination of more stringent regulatory requirements, the competitive pressures, and the need for more experts in the Utility Infrastructure Design arena, have all attributed to the growth continuum experienced in this industry. The Sernas Group Inc. was cognizant of the growing needs within this trade, and resolved to create a specialized Business Unit, which could fulfill the needs of clients through offering superior services in all aspects of Utility Infrastructure Design. In 1998, Nexgen Utilities was created to provide the technical expertise necessary to assist clients in the Public and Private sectors within all of Southern Ontario. With a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable staff, this small group went on to provide their expertise in an array of areas, and over the last 12 years have successfully completed thousands of projects, which continue to maintain their integrity over these many years.

The team has grown to over 15 staff, made up of highly qualified individuals who are exceptionally skilled at what they do within their respective Areas of Practice. To better suit the needs of its clients, The Nexgen Utilities Business Unit has devised five specific areas of practice which encompass: Utility Infrastructure Engineering; Illumination Engineering; Traffic Signalization Engineering; Utility Rehabilitation Engineering; and Utility Inspection and Contract Administration. Among these areas of practice, each has a detailed roster of specific services which focuses primarily on providing innovative solutions for our clients’ unique needs; thus, striving to ensure the Client’s Ultimate Satisfaction.

To date, the parent company, The Sernas Group Inc., has three operating offices within Ontario; one being located in Whitby, another in Mississauga, and one in Richmond Hill. The Nexgen Utilities Team is primarily based out of our Mississauga office, with staff in our Whitby and Richmond Hill offices. By having a “triangular network” of offices, and a multi disciplined team of specialists, we have the ability to have our teams positioned to have resources available for assignments within the various markets we service.

One thing that remains consistent throughout our history here at The Sernas Group, is that we truly appreciate all partnerships with our Clients.
