The Sernas Group - History

In 1962, our founder, Martin Sernas, had the vision to start his own engineering consultancy. He founded G.M. Sernas & Associates Ltd., a firm initially dedicated to serving clients in the Land Development Industry.

Since then, the company has grown substantially, in size, the services it provides and the clients it services. The firm is now a multi-disciplinary professional consulting firm, providing core consulting services for projects in the areas of: Land Development Engineering | Land Use Planning | Transportation Planning | Municipal Infrastructure Engineering | Stormwater Management | Electrical Distribution Engineering | Geomorphic and Environmental Services | and Roundabout Engineering. These practice areas have been organized into Business Units that allows the flexibility of providing either “stand alone” services specific to each unit or more comprehensive services of two or more units where the needs of the client or project dictate.

The Sernas Group Inc. now has four operating offices within Ontario; our head-office being located in Whitby, and others in Mississauga, Richmond Hill and, most recently, Kitchener/Waterloo. This diversified network of offices allows us to have local presence in the markets we serve and reduces commuting times for both our clients and staff. The firm has also grown in its staffing to meet our project and client needs and now employs over 200 engineers, technicians and technologists, land use planners, scientists and support staff dedicated to the company’s core values of providing consistent professional service delivery, in a highly responsive manner.
