Reporting to the Manager, Project & Design, produce drawings of electrical distribution, street lighting systems and other electrical services for residential and industrial subdivisions, municipal reconstruction projects and site plans.  The incumbent will refer to municipal and utility design standards, utility layouts and related reference materials in preparing drawings and will contact data sources, as required.

We are seeking a recent electrical engineering technology graduate with an interest and aptitude for drafting and design of electrical power distribution systems.  Incumbent should have good communication skills and strong attention to detail.  Minimum of 1 year experience using AutoCad and/or Microstation software. Experience working in MS Access is considered an asset.

Reporting to the Sr. Project Engineer, this engineer will design all aspects of new construction and rehabilitation of transportation structures including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.  Additional responsibilities will include other project functions such as drawing layout, contract drawing review, quantity calculations, preparation of letters, reports, proposals, and tender documents, conducting site inspections of existing structures as well as those under construction, corresponding with sub-consultants and other agencies, etc.  

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a minimum 5 years of related Canadian experience, and hold a P. Eng. designation from Professional Engineers Ontario.  A working knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, applicable structure analysis software, familiarity with the MTO Structural Manual, Structure Inspection Manual, Structural Rehabilitation Manual, and Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and Drawings (OPSD) is required.  Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset.  The incumbent must be able to work concurrently on multiple projects in a team environment to meet project deadlines.

We are currently seeking an applicant to fill the role of Restoration Technician.  The successful applicant would be supporting the implementation and monitoring of restoration designs; collection of field data; analyzing geomorphic data; observing sites during construction; and preparing draft permits and monitoring reports.

• Preferably 2 years' of experience in earth sciences including field techniques;

We currently seek summer students to work as construction inspectors to assist with and gain experience in land development construction services.  Duties will include inspecting the grading and installation of sewers, watermains, roads and curbs by construction contractors in accordance with contract specifications; attending site meetings and writing reports; liaising with contractors and municipal inspectors; keeping as-built records and providing progress reports.

Qualifications:

• Civil or environmental engineering studies;
• working knowledge of municipal services construction;
• topographical surveying knowledge required;
• strong record-keeping and communication skills;
• physically able and willing to work outdoors and to work long hours; and
• possess a valid driver's licence and road worthy vehicle.

Reporting to a Project Manager, the successful incumbent participates in the collection of traffic count data and preparation of inventories of road facilities and transit services; undertakes research and analysis of land use, demographic and travel data; determines access requirements and broader transportation impacts of development proposals; assists in the preparation and analysis of travel forecasts; develops and assesses alternative road improvements; develops preliminary road designs; prepares technical memos, reports and graphics; assists with detailed road and signal design. 

This position requires a degree/diploma from a recognized University or Community College program in Civil Engineering, Transportation Technology or related field, and at least 2 years of related experience. A good understanding of travel data collection and analysis techniques, travel forecasting methods, general knowledge of roadway geometrics, strong computer, analytical and problem solving skills. Experience with AutoCAD, Synchro/Simtraffic, HCS, CCG/Calc is preferred. Self-motivation and the ability to handle multiple projects, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Driver's licence and own a road-worthy vehicle required.
