Mr. Jim Bacchus has been the General Manager of the Transtech business unit since the autumn of 2008. Prior to joining The Sernas Group (as Project Manager in 2007), he was with Cansult Limited, where he started his career, for over 16 years (although, officially he was employed by UMA / AECOM, subsequent to their takeover of Cansult in 2006). During his nearly 20-year career, Mr. Bacchus has obtained considerable domestic and international experience in the preparation of transportation planning-related studies in support of small and large-scale private development applications and public infrastructure projects.

Mr. Bacchus’ responsibilities include overall leadership and responsibility for the Transtech business unit, as well as overseeing and managing the marketing, project management, preparation and presentation of Traffic Impact Studies, Parking Assessments, Site Access Investigations, and Internal Functional Design Studies on behalf of both private and public sector clients. Mr. Bacchus is also responsible for the oversight, coordination and management of traffic impact components of Transportation Master Plans, Secondary Plans, Corridor Studies, Class Environmental Assessments, plus public sector transportation planning assignments and Peer Reviews.

He is proficient in many International / Canadian industry-standard traffic analysis and simulation software packages used in the examination of traffic impacts, transportation system modeling, and traffic operations for intersections, roundabouts and road corridors. These include SYNCHRO/SIMTRAFFIC, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, HiCAP, CCGCALC, MTOP, and FORTRAN signal progression. Mr. Bacchus also has experience with the transportation demand modeling packages of TRANSCAD, EMME and VISUM.
