Transtech - History

Transportation planning and engineering has always been a vital component for the sustainability of our growing communities. Over the last few decades, we have seen development expansions rise to astronomical levels within Ontario, which has brought even more traffic to our roads to contend with. The need for qualified engineers and planners has therefore become an important valued element in the transportation planning arena. Clients look to work with firms that have a solid handle on the ever changing industry, and who can provide innovative solutions. The Sernas Group Inc. understood this call for engineering services early on, and decided to acquire a specialty firm named RGP Transtech. In 1997, Sernas Transtech was established to serve the specialized needs of both our private and public sector clients within Ontario. With a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable staff, this small group has grown to 12 full-time staff and gone on to provide their expertise in an array of areas, and over the last 13 years has since successfully completed over 500 Transportation Planning assignments, which is a testament to their integrity and quality of product over these many years.

In 2008, Jim Bacchus, B.A., and Principal, took on the role of General Manager, and has continued to lead the group to expand its services to meet the high demands of the Transportation Planning and Engineering sector within the Durham, York, and GTA areas. Today, Transtech is made up of highly qualified individuals who are exceptionally skilled at what they do in their respective areas of practice. To better suit the needs of its clients, the Sernas Transtech Business Unit has devised five specific areas of practice which encompass: Transportation Planning; Traffic Engineering; Specified Traffic Assessments; Site and Location Investigation; and Strategic Advisory. Amongst these areas of practice, each has a detailed roster of specific services which focuses primarily on providing innovative solutions for our clients’ unique needs; thus, striving to ensure the Client’s Ultimate Satisfaction.

To date, the parent company, The Sernas Group Inc., has three operating offices within Ontario; one being located in Whitby, another in Mississauga, and one in Richmond Hill. The Transtech Team has professionally qualified and support staff based in all three offices. By having a “triangular network” of offices, and a multi-disciplined team of specialists, we have the ability to have our teams positioned to have resources available for assignments within the various markets we service.

One thing that remains consistent throughout our History here at The Sernas Group, is that we truly appreciate all our clients’ partnerships over these many years.
